Clearing Sale (Farm Auction); Part 1

There is nothing better than going to a farm clearing sale, and hearing the magic words, 'this is a fair dinkum sale, everything must sell', and lots of pieces (including furniture) selling for only $2 each. Priceless.

Isn't the view fantastic, and the sky was crystal clear. It was only around 14 degrees C, but the sun was out with no wind, so it was pretty warm.

Here are some of the items that didn't make it home. The kids wanted to buy the ute (utility truck and Australian country icon), so that we could cart some of the bigger stuff home...we sure do need one. This was the only thing with a reserve, and I am sure that it didn't go for only $2.

The kids spent most of the day climbing up this tree.

Aah, country Australia, could it get any better?

I'll be back tomorrow to show you what we did bring home. Bye, butterfly......

@Nelly Hi Nelly, The sale was about 40 minutes drive from here, between Canberra and Murrumbateman (near Yass, NSW). The farmer was retiring, he was very old. He was still there and was walking around listening to the sale. This property was his mothers and he only used it was a weekender. The property and cattle were sold, and today they were selling the farm tools and small household pieces.

If you are interested in attending clearning sales, they are usually listed in the back of the newspaper "The Land" (in Australia) every week.

I wonder if the relatives had picked some treasures first. Can't wait to see what you bought,I have a little cupboard very similar to the creamy one, believed to be from the late 1890's bought in a country town.Love country shopping.

Wow, brings back so many memories of when I was a child going to farm clearing sales with dad. I remember playing with new friends all day and trying not to bid on something by accident - lol. We have one of those old trunks on our front verandah that we picked up at a GS. Love them.
