Happy Birthday Mr ATP

The kids and I had something special planned for Carl's birthday this year. Being the self-proclaimed King of the Nerds, he has always wanted a Segway. We knew that we had to hire a segway for a ride around Lake Burley Griffin on a beautiful sunny morning.

He was sweating it all week, wondering what his surprise was going to be. I said, "you have to wear comfortable shoes",  so he instantly thought rock climbing and was not looking forward to wearing the harness.....hehe.

Then I mentioned that he had to do it by himself (the kids were too young to ride the segways) and others would be there too.  I  hinted that it was a play titled 'Little Drummer Boy'......pa rum pum pum pum....which he hates.

The kids did well to keep the secret and were excited to see his face when all was revealed!

Safety first..haha

A quick lesson
Like a pro
Off they go
I would like to dedicate the following song to the Carl on his birthday....it cracks me up EVERY time I hear it. Enjoy!

Vintage Dresses

I know that many of you are lovers of vintage dresses, whilst I do not wear vintage anymore (not that anything would fit me), I do like to collect pieces to add to my little collection.

I remember spending lots of time at my Grans in a big cardboard box in her spare room. I would dress up in her old slips and dresses. There was one dress in particular that was my favourite. I still have it. It was handmade like many were in those days (mum dates this one to the early 60's), and made of the most glorious blue crushed velvet. It has two small diamonte buttons that hang from the neckline. The pictures below do not do it justice.

Don't forget to join Kylie and Donna for the Retro Cook Off on the 4th November!

Enjoy the weekend, thanks for passing by. Back with more of my vintage dresses soon. Tam x

Flamingo Pink

I ordered some flamingos a while back on ebay. They arrived this morning, so I have been playing around with them in the garden. They are remoulded from the featherstone originals.

And just because it is nearly Halloween (though we do not celebrate it here), I have included a photo of our brain plants. Don't they look like velvet brains but much prettier.

It is so windy here, Mary Poppins would not be able to keep two feet on the ground! Random checks are in order to make sure the flamingos haven't flown the coop.

Thanks for taking the time to pop over and support my facebook page, I truly appreciate it. I am a facebook Gumby so please be patient :)

Bye for now.....Pokey away!!!!! Tam x

A Treasured Past in now on Facebook

What a  gorgeous day it has turned out to be...the sun is shining, the birds are chirping. I hope it is as lovely in your part of the world as it is here.

This is just a quick post to let you know that I now have a dedicated facebook page to showcase my stamp jewellery. Here you will find my newest creations, and the markets dates that I will be attending. I wanted to separate the jewellery from my everyday blog so that I do not bore you all to death, if I have not already!

The page is set up as a brand, I am not a business, so I didn't want to set it up as one. The capabilities of my page are different to an everyday user account, so I am unable add friends or search for others.

Please don't leave me hanging in cyberspace. You are able to 'like' my page to receive updates on your wall if you have an account. I have one 'like' already but that is the Mr so it doesn't count..haha

I have a link to the page on the sidebar or you can click on the link below:

Enjoy the lovely weekend, Tam x

Its been ages.......

Wow, its been ages since I did my last post. Thanks to those that have checked in with me to see if I was still here!

The markets went really well and I have booked into the Christmas Markets in December. I have made a few Christmas pieces so it will be interesting to see how they do.

I am enjoying a week off, well 12 days actually, from work.  If I do little more than read a good book I will be very happy. Work is doing my head in.....

Between work and my jewellery I have very little to report, but I have managed to find a few treasures that I would like to share with you.

A shell owl sits happily with the shell dog....why do I love these so?

Don't worry Mrs Forshaw, your trophies are safe with me.....1930's trophies

Interesting Instant Coffee jar

1930's Japanese Geraniumware to add to the collection

Blimey Christmas is just around the corner..are you thinking about it yet????

Love old mesh food cover, this is a nice small size

Original Clowns oil painting for the Mr's Clown collection

Groovy 1960's cat tapestry

Another vintage mannequin...love 'em
I hope you are all well.  We have a few car boot sales and swap meets coming up soon. Oh, I should also mention that I am now a year older, not sure about wiser and we have celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary...its all been happening. The Mr's birthday is in a couple of weeks, I am planning to hire him a Segway to ride around Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra....yes he is a nerd, but a loveable one.
