Handmade Xmas Tree

I've been faffing around this afternoon, while it was quiet, softly raining and the kids were at school. I saw these wonderful trees at the
Curios Sofa Diaries and they gave me the inspiration to make my own. I had a small silver candlestick in the shed (you would be amazed at what we have in there) so I popped out, grabbed my supplied from the granny flat and sat down in front of the tv for a while. Its also good physio for my hand. (***click the pictures for a bigger view***).

Don't forget you have until midnight tonight to enter my xmas giveaway...good luck to all that have entered.

Handmade Christmas Favours

I am joining in on Knicky Knacks Handmade Christmas Challenge. Please pop on over and check it out.

The kids and I have been making a few xmas favours to give to their friends. We covered some cheap match boxes with pretty paper and placed a piece of paper in the back of the little tray and glued in a little treasure. Like the little snowman above. We attached a card and a candy cane and tied with a little ribbon. A cheap and easy gift and fun to make too.

The kids have their own little tree in their room this year and it is covered in the little decorations they have made. We made some paper butterflies cut from old map pages, with their bodies made from pipe cleaners. A 'V' shaped pipe cleaner is glues underneath to attach to the tree. They have also made a few paper chains at school.

Below are a few of our handmade xmas decorating ideas.

I made this stocking for Ind last year from a fragment of vintage patchwork quilt and bits and bobs.

Star fashioned from a wooden folding rule and strung with vintage mini tinsel and glass baubles.

Bottle cap wreath. For a better look at my wreath, click here.

Cookie cutters held with mini bull-clips on jute string.

Make sure you check out Knicky Knacks for some fantastic handmade Christmas inspirations.

Collections: Ceramic Flower Frogs

I purchased this little fishing lady ceramic flower frog at a local auction many years ago. I was lucky enough to find the fisherman that matched on ebay.

The little gnome I picked up at the Goulburn Swap meet this year, and the girl riding the swan was also an ebay find. They are all marked Japan.

I do like the metal flower frogs also, they are great to hold photos and cards. I would love to hear about your collections too.

Friday Favourites: Brown Eyes

Hi guys,

well my cast support came off yesterday and I had my first visit with the physio. I am sure the other patients next door were terrified at the screams coming from my room, but boy did it hurt. My tendons in my wrist and fingers are as tight as drums. I have very little movement in either, let alone start on my little finger. I have a lot of exercises to do, painful but necessary so that I can get movement back. New nickname now, 'The plank'..hehe

I have been given another 2 weeks off work, so I have to try and get my wrist to bend. It is currently as straight as a board, I can't bend it down. My fingers are still swollen like sausages and the cut along my wrist is starting to pull. Gross...Now that is making me woozy I might have to lie down..haha

Now for another Friday Favourite, sorry I had to remove the linky from last weeks post, it was doing crazy stuff to my blog (sorry Catherine). This weeks favourite is brown eyes, I love brown eyes, my husband has brown eyes. My children both have beautiful brown eyes too. (mine are green/hazel eyes).

Do you have a favourite eye colour too?

I'd like to introduce you to Buttercup

How cute is this! India made her the other day. I've snaffled her up and popped her on my kitchen shelves before she is lost.

Take care, Tamara

Snow in November?

It looks as it has been snowing in our front yard, but its just the snowball tree dropping all the tiny flower petals after the rain. Hope you are enjoying your week.

Junking Makeovers: Bottle Cap Xmas Wreath

I was cleaning out the kitchen draw today and removed a gazillion beer bottle caps that Mr T had stuffed in there, apparently he was saving them for me for craft projects...yeah right! But hang on, I have used them for a craft project..hehe.

I decided to make a xmas wreath because I could easily do it with one hand. I found a styrofoam ring that I had covered with tinsel last year (we made a chocolate covered red and green frog lolly wreath, Delish!) so that was easy.

Then I hot glue gunned the tops on, in the process I burnt my fingers to billyoh! I am going to hang it on the front door, Mr T thinks it looks pov (ie bad) and that people will think that we are bogans, but I think it looks pretty.

Only 44 days til Christmas!!! Are you getting ready???

Don't forget to join me on Friday for another Friday Favourites :)
