All That Sparkles

We took a detour to the Mitchell Tip Shop on the way to the movies on Sunday, with many moans and groans I might add..haha. It was recently taken over the same mob that run Tiny's Green Shed in Mugga Lane so I was keen to check it out.

India and I got lost in the bead/jewellery bucket just inside the door, while the fellas checked out the back. Kade informed me that he did the rounds and there was nothing good out there, so I took his word for it. He is pretty good at spotting treasure.

At the bottom of the tub, I saw a bead, then another, then another. At this point I had to find a little container to pop them in, after about 10 minutes we fetched out all the little beads. They just happen to be mercury glass beads from a broken Christmas garland. I quizzed the Mr, but he had no idea what they were, so -10 points for him.

In January, I purchased the most fantastic vintage head piece adorned with mercury beads from ebay. Although lots of beads were missing I fell in love with it. I knew straight away that I could add to some of the missing pieces with the new beads.

I have added a few before and after shots. I have not filled it all in, but just added bits here and there, I think it is quite beautiful as is. What do you think?

Parts of Ghost Rider 2 was very silly, and India had to hide her eyes, because it was too scary, but it was pretty good. If you like Idris Elba (aka Luther) than you will enjoy his character and there was even a couple of chuckles (only from me mind you).  India thought it was great (the bits she saw), Kade liked the first one better, and the Mr thought is was rubbish...you can't please everyone :)

Enjoy your week, T x

I had no idea what these were until you said 'mercury' beads. They are very beautiful and are especially good in that head piece.

I ran a search on them (thinking they could still be poisonous) and came up with this. I thought you might be interested.
