Firecracker Night!

***Photo attributed to Alex Sims***

I'm so excited!!!

This morning on the way to work I saw a sign for the Gunning Fireworks Festival in September. Fireworks have been banned in the state of New South Wales for many years now, I think since the 1980's?

I remember every year we would go to the Bonfire night, it was always on the long weekend in June, to celebrate the Queens Birthday....Mum would make a slab of treacle toffee and we would break it into big shards and suck on it while watching the fireworks..remember that Tracy?

Its one of the things our kids have never experienced. They too were excited when I told them the news..actually, India more in having her face painted whilst there and Kade in seeing the reptile show...tee hee

If you are interested you can find more information here.

I know, it doesn't take much for me to get excited does it :)

Hi Tamara, thanks for your kind comment and for putting me on your blogroll, I have enjoyed visiting your blog too (and will be putting your in my blogroll also). Hope your enjoy the fireworks, over here bonfire night (Nov 5th) is becoming tiresome in that people are able to buy their own fireworks resulting in them going off for anything up to 2 weeks before and after the 5th. It kind of takes the edge off the day. I'm all for them being restricted to public displays only, will probably never happen though.

@vintage mum Hi Cate, Perth is a nice place, I will pop over to your friends blog too.

Treacle toffee is the best, but we haven't had it for years because no fireworks :(

@Lucy Bloom Hi Lucy,

It is a shame that a few people always ruin it for everyone :( Believe me, if they restrict it only to public displays, it won't happen very often,it doesn't here :(

Thank you for adding my to your blogroll also :)

bye, Tamara x
